Our correspondent（Text byChen Qiong /PhotosbyLiu Kexin and Zhang Yixuan）On the afternoon of December 29, John Paul Christopher Grima, an expert from the Language Teaching Center of Tsinghua University, was invited toHUATto hold special lecture “Improving College English Teaching Capacity” in Room SX301 of the Industry-Education Integration Building. Wang Chenhui, dean of Foreign Languages and International Trade,presided over this lecture .University Council Membersteam and language teachers engaged in this learning exchange.

In this lecture, Teacher Sima Yun shared innovative ideas and practical methods in English writing, listening and speaking teaching，classroom interaction design, and AI-assisted education，combining extensive teaching practice and research experience in English at Tsinghua University.

By vivid case and on-site interactions, he demonstrated in a simple and clear manner how to effectively stimulate students’ initiative of learning and improve classroom engagement level and teaching effectiveness，which supplied precious reference and practical guidance for all the teachers.

This lecture has built a platform forHUAT’sEnglish teachers to communicate face-to-face with experts ofEnglish teaching. It also has a positive effect forHUATin further deepening the reform of English teaching and promoting teachers' professional development.Teachers that engaged in this lecture expressed that the content of this lecture is practical and perspective is forefront,which has important significance about refreshing curriculum design and integrating intelligent teaching tools in the further.（Edited by Wang Chenhui）
