Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) lies in Shiyan City, in the Northwest of Hubei Province. The City of Shiyan came into existence for the production of automobiles and has become prosperous. It is now the main production base of Dongfeng heavy trucks that are famous at home and abroad. Because of its close relationship with automobile industry, the city is also called “the Detroit in China.” Shiyan is made beautiful by Danjiankou Reservoir, the largest freshwater reservoir in Asia. This vast expense of blue water is picturesque for its surroundings. Shiyan is also beautiful for its mountains, within which lies the holy land of Taoism’s Wudang Mountains which were named a World Cultural Heritage by UNESC. Surrounded by such beautiful mountains and water, HUAT becomes an ideal studying place for students from home and abroad. We advocate development in a scientific way and adhere to “truth-innovation” in practice so as to meet the people’s need for education and to take an active part in local economic development and national automobile industries. As we develop, we also attach substantial attention to such aspects as education quality, lab equipment, academic research and unique features which includes a combination of education with production, academic research and international co-operation. Guided by our school’s motto, “the training plan of excellent engineers” and relying on the background of the fast development of automobiles to cultivate applied talents of engineering, we are currently moving firmly forward to shape ourselves into a domestically famous-brand university with unique features of engineering, comparative advantage and international influence.
