Celebrating the First "International Tai Chi Day": Chinese and International Students Practice Wudang Tai Chi Together

On the occasion of the first United Nations "InternationalTai ChiDay," the Youth League Committee of HUAT and the School of International Education held a distinctive flash mob activity of Wudang NineFormsTai Chi at the campus Wudang Cultural Square.

Members of theHUAT’s martial arts association and 15 international students who are enthusiasts of Tai Chi, dressed in traditional Tai Chi suits, performed the Wudang NineFormsTai Chi on site.Their smooth movements won warm applause from the audience. Many passing teachers and students also joined the group to practice, experiencing the unique charm of Wudang Tai Chi culture.Yin Yicheng, president ofHUAT’s martial arts association, said that Tai Chi is an intangible cultural heritage listed by the United Nations, and Wudang Tai Chi culture serves as a famous cultural name card of Shiyan. He hopes to hold more Tai Chi performances to help students get acquainted with Tai Chi culture and set off an upsurge of fitness on campus.Zhang Tingting, a teacher from the School of International Education, noted that Wudang Tai Chi has become a window for international students to understand Chinese culture, and these students have gradually transformed from learners of Chinese culture to promoters of Tai Chi philosophy.

This Tai Chi flash mob event marked the beginning of the university's 2026 "Youth Cup," which will be followed by a series of online and offline activities such as basketball games, chess competitions, and dance performances.These activities will inject full vitality into the cultural life of students and faculty on campus, further fostering a vibrant and uplifting educational atmosphere.
