Recently, the Confucius Institute of Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) was invited to attend a reception held by the Chinese Embassy in Ghana and organized the event Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Exhibition—Peking Opera Masks and Embroidered Sachets.

The institute’s booth adopted the theme Silk Threads Paint All Forms, Masks Reveal the Universe. It was divided into four sections: static display, cultural interpretation, hands on experience, and gift giving. At the Mask Painting station, guests traced mask outlines and felt the culture of Peking Opera masks. At the Sachet Handcraft station, guests smelled the fragrance of Chinese herbal medicine and made their own sachets, which drew praise from many participants.

Volunteer teacher Liu Yang shared that when she gave a hand sewn sachet to a little girl in Ghana and heard her say thank you in Chinese and express her love for China, she truly understood the meaning of“cultural exchange”.
