On the afternoon of September 20, Associate Professor Arno Eichberger, Director of the Institute of Automotive Engineering at Graz University of Technology in Austria, was invited to visit our university and give an academic lecture at the Dongfeng Forum.

At two o’clock in the afternoon, Associate Professor Arno Eichberger delivered a special lecture entitled Virtual Certification–A Game Changer for Fleet Introduction of SAE L3 Plus Vehicle Automation on the European Market. The lecture was hosted by Gong Jiayuan, Vice Dean of the School of Intelligent Connected Vehicles, and was attended by nearly 200 people, including teachers, graduate students, undergraduate representatives from the School of Intelligent Connected Vehicles, and students and faculty from other science and engineering schools.

The lecture focused on virtual certification technology and the application of SAE L3 plus automated driving systems in the European market, offering students and teachers a look at cutting-edge technology. The content was divided into three parts: First, an introduction to Chat2Scenario, a large language model driven framework that can automatically reconstruct key scenarios in OpenSCENARIO format from high D data sets based on natural language descriptions, along with a human machine interactive website developed for it; second, a discussion on simulation credibility, covering reference data collection, data driven modeling, full vehicle MiL, multi layer evaluation, and full vehicle test platforms; third, safety performance evaluation methods based on ISO 26262 and ISO PAS 21448 standards. The professor showed the central role of virtual testing technology in the research and development of automated driving. His excellent presentation provided a rare learning opportunity for those present, broadened their academic horizons, and led to lively discussions among participants.

After the lecture, Zhu Zhanwei, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Fang Peng, Deputy Director, Chen Yufeng, Dean of the School of Intelligent Connected Vehicles, and Gong Jiayuan, Vice Dean, met with Professor Eichberger in the Second Experimental Building. They had in depth talks on establishing an international joint laboratory, jointly applying for international cooperation projects, opportunities for undergraduate students to continue their studies abroad, and student summer camp activities.
