Report (Text/Zeng Xiaoyan): The selection results for Hubei University of Automative Technology(HUAT)students applying to study at France’s Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) have recently been announced. Following rigorous language proficiency, professional competency assessments, and interviews, three outstanding students (two from the class of 2022 and one from the class of 2021) have received official admission notices from UCA. They are set to become the ninth cohort of HUAT students participating in the Sino-French Bachelor & Master Joint Education Program (referred to as the "3/4+3" program).

Initiated in 2014, the "3/4+3" Bachelor & Master Joint EducationProgram between HUAT and UCA allows students to complete three to four years of undergraduate studies at HUAT before proceeding to a three-year master’s phase at UCA’s elite engineering school, contingent upon passing language and professional competency evaluations organized by the French institution. Upon successful completion, students are awarded UCA’s Engineer Master’s Diploma. This diploma is accredited by the French Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI), holds greater recognition than a standard French university master’s degree, and is officially recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a master’s qualification.
Since the program’s inception, HUAT has sent 57 students to France to pursue the Engineer Master’s Diploma. Graduates of the program have demonstrated strong competitiveness, with several now pursuing doctoral studies at prestigious domestic and international institutions such as Sorbonne University in France, Waseda University in Japan, and Harbin Engineering University in China. In the job market, their combination of engineering practical skills and international exposure has enabled most graduates to secure employment in France or return to China to assume core R&D positions in French-invested enterprises.

The successful implementation of the "3/4+3" Bachelor & Master Joint Education Program has provided valuable experience for HUAT in deepening industry-education integration and cultivating internationalized "Emerging Engineering" talents. Moving forward, the university plans to further optimize the program’s structure, expand the range of cooperating disciplines, incorporate cutting-edge fields such as new energy vehicles and intelligent driving into the training system, and explore the establishment of joint laboratories with French partner institutions. These initiatives aim to provide students with more pathways for comprehensive growth and professional development. (Reviewed by Zeng Xiaoyan)
