[Edited by Fang Peng] On April 30, a delegation from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, accompanied by Vice President Zhang Hongxia of Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT), visited the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of China's Ministry of Education. Deputy Director Hu Zhiping of the center met with the delegation.

Hu Zhiping welcomed the delegation. He provided an overview of the development of Confucius Institutes globally and in Africa, noting that China and Ghana have achieved fruitful results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields since establishing diplomatic relations 65 years ago. He expressed appreciation for the contributions made by the Ashanti Regional Government and KNUST in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Africa.
Ashanti Regional Minister Amaako Hene Frank stated that Ashanti is a major political and economic hub in Ghana and holds a significant position throughout West Africa. KNUST,a prestigious university located in the regional capital, Kumasi, plays a key role in the region. The Confucius Institute, jointly established by KNUST and HUAT, continues to serve as a vital bridge, facilitating bilateral exchanges in education, culture, the automotive industry, and economic and trade cooperation.
Vice President Asamoah David of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) in Ghana introduced the university's historical development, indicating that the Confucius Institute co-established with Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) has inherited the traditional of emphasizing industry-university collaboration. He affirmed KNUST's ongoing support for the sustainable development of the Confucius Institute as well as facilitating China-Africa cooperation in the automotive industry . Zhang Hongxia presented the development progress of the Confucius Institute established between HUAT and KNUST, indicating that the institution will concentrate on automotive industry applications while establishing its foundation in Ghana, serving West Africa, and extending its reach across the African continent to develop a distinctive Confucius Institute specializing in Chinese language and automotive technology. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions regarding the establishment of a Chinese language teacher education program and the implementation of "Chinese + Automotive Engineering" curricula. They expressed mutual commitment to future collaboration aimed atadvancing Chinese language education in Ghana. The delegation also visited the Chinese Cultural Experience Center at the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.
