This website (article/photos by Fang Peng) – On April 9, Professor Zhihong Huang and his delegation from the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology at the University of York (UK) visited our university for exchanges. Vice President Zhang Hongxia warmly received the delegation in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the Industry-Education Integration Building, and the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on international cooperation.

Zhang Hongxia extended a sincere welcome to Professor Zhihong Huang and his delegation on behalf of the university, and gave a detailed introduction to our university’s history and distinctive features. During the exchange, she discussed the potential for future international cooperation and exchange between the two institutions, and exchanged valuable insights with Professor Zhihong Huang.

Professor Zhihong Huang thanked our university for the warm hospitality, then introduced the overview of the University of York, including its scale and dominant disciplines. He noted that the University of York has always actively promoted inter-university international cooperation, and looks forward to in-depth collaboration with our university in student cultivation, faculty-student exchanges, and joint scientific research, to achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages.

During the exchange, Dr. Chun Zhao, Dr. Jiaoyue Chen, and Dr. Ling Wang from the University of York held in-depth discussions with vice deans and program leaders from our University’s College of Artificial Intelligence, College of Robotics and Automation, College of Intelligent Connected Vehicles, and College of Optoelectronics (College of New Energy). The topics covered "2+2" undergraduate joint cultivation, "3+1+1" undergraduate-postgraduate joint cultivation, faculty visits, and international scientific research cooperation. The two sides reached consensus on student joint cultivation, short-term exchanges, faculty visits, and academic research cooperation, and decided to maintain close communication to establish a long-term partnership.

During the visit, Professor Zhihong Huang and his delegation also toured our university’s History Museum, Sci-Tech Innovation Exchange Exhibition Center, Energy Storage and Power Battery Laboratory, and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Laboratory. This gave them a more intuitive understanding of our university’s development history, scientific research achievements, and practical platforms.

Founded in 1963, the University of York is a public research-oriented comprehensive university. As a top UK institution, it is a member of the Russell Group (the "Ivy League" of the UK), alongside universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London. This exchange visit has laid a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation between the two universities, and is expected to open a new chapter in international education and scientific research.
