On the afternoon of June 9, the third council meeting of the Confucius Institute of our university was successfully held in the conference room of the administrative building of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. President Wang Xiao (Chinese Chairman), President Dickson of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Foreign Chairman), and members of the council from both sides attended the meeting. The meeting conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the current development and future planning of the Confucius Institute.
Wang Xiao affirmed that physical distance is no barrier to true friendship, which makes hearts feel connected. He highlighted the Confucius Institute's position as a key platform for educational collaboration between China and Ghana, one that symbolizes the enduring academic bond between the two universities across continents. Furthermore, he lauded the Institute's accomplishments in language instruction, cultural promotion, and industry partnership. For the future, his vision is for the Institute to concentrate on building its distinctive "Chinese + Automobile" program. This entails promoting the development of bilingual new energy vehicle courses, fostering industry-academia-research synergy, and ultimately extending the coverage and impact of Chinese language education throughout the region.
The meeting reviewed and approved the 2024AnnualWork Report and Financial Report of the Confucius Instituteof our university, and discussedissues such as the nomination of the next foreignvice-dean,the accommodation for Chinese teacherson campus, and the employment of local staff. The Chinese andForeignChairmanof the Council unanimouslybelievedthat with the joint support of both sides, the Confucius Instituteis bound toachieve greater accomplishments and continuouslypromotethedeepeningandsolidificationof China-Africa educational and industrial cooperation.
Subsequently, thePresidents and deans on both sides, othercouncilmembers, and all teachers of the institute attended theunveilingceremonyforthenewConfucius Institute Office. During the meeting, Wang Xiao alsovisitedthe Chinese staffof the Confucius Institute.
