International Experts Visit University to Forge Path for Automotive Industry Transformation

From June 23 to 26, 2025, the“Beijing Foreign Experts and Scholars Tour to Shiyan”was held in Shiyan City, Hubei Province. The event brought together 19 international academicians and experts from universities and research institutes in Beijing, injecting global expertise into local industrial development and university scientific‑innovation.

During theevent, three distinguished experts—Tang Jie from Beijing University of Technology, Iqbal Munawar from the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Sima Yun from Tsinghua University—were invited to the university for exchange talks. They were warmly received by Li Tao, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, and Wang Zhen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Head of the Organization Department.

Li Tao presented a comprehensive overview of the university, detailing its history, disciplinary structure, "Double First-Class" initiative,as well as its achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, and international collaboration.He emphasized that the university hopes to take this event as an opportunity and leverage the intellectual resources of foreign academicians and experts. It aims to further deepen collaboration in multiple areas, including the introduction and cultivation of overseas high-level talents, international academic exchanges, interdisciplinary research cooperation, and the establishment of international platforms.This collaboration aims to support the transformation of Hubei's automotive industry towards high-end and intelligent manufacturing.

During the free discussion session, the two parties reached multiple substantive cooperative intentions. The discussions centered on collaborative research in several frontier fields, including new technologies for energy storage and power batteries, the development of new energy quantum devices, and the application of high-energy physics. Additionally, arrangements were made for the foreign experts to guide young faculty members through language teaching competition workshops.

Following the talks, the delegation of international academicians and experts conducted field visits to key university facilities. These included the University History Museum, the Automotive Science, Innovation, and Popularization Base, the Hubei Key Laboratory of Energy Storage and Power Batteries, and the Hubei Key Laboratory of Automotive Power Transmission and Electronic Control. The delegation expressed high appreciation for the university's achievements in the research and development of core automotive technologies.
