To celebrate Teachers Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the International Education College jointly organized the Sharing the Mid-Autumn Festival, Promoting the Tradition of Respecting Teachers celebration event with Zhoujiagou Community, Hongwei Subdistrict, Zhangwan District. Over 80 participants attended the event, including cadres from Zhoujiagou Community, faculty representatives from various colleges, and international teachers and students.

At the beginning of the event, foreign teachers and students gained an initial impression of the Mid-Autumn Festival through an introductory video. The Chinese poetry sharing session deepened their understanding of this traditional Chinese festival. International students from our university recited Thoughts on“ a Quiet Night(静夜思)” “Drinking Alone Under the Moon(月下独酌)” and “Gazing at the Moon and Longing for Distant Places(望月怀古)”, expressing their appreciation for Chinese traditional culture and the homesickness of studying abroad. The performance of “Wishing We Last Forever(但愿人长久)”brought the event to its climax, with everyone singing Prelude to “Water tune song head ̇ When will the bright moon be available?(水调歌头·明月几时有)”in Chinese. Through the melodies, they experienced the unique cultural charm of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the profound connotations of Chinese poetry.
Lanterns are also an important component of traditional Chinese culture. The foreign faculty and students utilized recyclable materials such as disposable paper cups, plastic strings, and cardboards to create integrity lanterns, showcasing their eco-friendly creativity by crafting remarkably lifelike integrity lantern artworks.
Teacher, thank you for your hard work! Coinciding with the arrival of the 40th Teachers Day, all international students expressed their gratitude to the teachers through a sign language performance of A Heart of Thanksgiving and presented flowers to the teachers to thank them for their earnest teachings and diligent efforts.
This event not only allowed international students to enter the community and integrate with the local residents, but also further enriched the spiritual and cultural lives of foreign teachers and students. By learning about and appreciating traditional festivals in an entertaining and educational manner, it helped promote and preserve outstanding traditional culture. At the same time, it enabled teachers to feel the warmth and respect from both the community and students, thereby advancing the development of professional ethics and conduct among educators.
