On August 30, 2024, the My China Story China-Africa Video Competition concluded, with the work “Deep Love for China from Shiyan：My Study Abroad Story” by KIVENI LULENDO GINIAS Chinese name: Ji Xiaolong, an international student from the Democratic Republic of Congo at our university, winning the Excellence Award.

Since the launch of the competition, the International Education College has attached great importance to it, guiding international students in China to meticulously design their projects, telling the story of “Study Abroad At HUAT ” and disseminating Chinese culture. The competition entries were filmed at various locations including our universitys Wudang Cultural Square, the Yuxu Palace in Wudang Mountain, the Danjiangkou Reservoir, and the headquarters building of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle. Through the lens, the footage captures the students learning experiences in “the Celestial Mountain and beautiful landscape and automobile City” as well as their passion for Chinese culture.

It is reported that the My China Story China-Africa Video Contest was jointly organized by the Secretariat of the Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the China Public Diplomacy Association, with Global Times Online as the implementing body. The event aimed to showcase the friendship between the peoples of China and Africa and their shared aspirations for the positive development of China-Africa relations. Over 2,600 entries from 58 countries and regions worldwide participated, with 100 works ultimately receiving awards. This recognition reflects the international student communitys endorsement of our universitys education for overseas students, as well as their identification with and commitment to inheriting Chinese culture.
