On the morning of August 29, 2024, the international summer school activity of "Chinese Bridge • International Youth Perception of Wudang and Hanshui Culture • Shiyan Travel" of HUAT officially kicked off. Vice President Zhang Hongxia attended and delivered a speech. Twenty-six teachers and students from the Confucius Institute of Nkruma University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Technology and Northern University of Technology gathered together. The ceremony was presided over by Zhu Zhanwei, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office . The Ministry of Propaganda, the Cooperation and Development Department, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office , the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Marxism, the School of Automotive Engineering, the College of Automotive Engineers, the School of Art and Design, and the Ministry of Sports participated in the opening ceremony of the International Summer School.
On behalf of the university, Vice President Zhang Hongxia extended warm greetings to the faculty and students from the three universities who had traveled from afar. She stated that Hubei University of Automotive Technology has been continuously advancing high-level educational openness to the outside world, meticulously arranging distinctive courses such as Wudang Taoist Culture, Traditional Chinese Sports: Dragon and Lion Dance and Tai Chi, and Robotics and Intelligent Vehicles for the participants. She encouraged the attendees to enhance communication and interaction, boldly explore cutting-edge automotive fields as well as Wudang and Han River culture, and expressed hope that the event would further deepen and expand international exchange and cooperation between the university and higher education institutions in Ghana and Beijing.
As the student representative, Daniel, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology delivered a speech . He first expressed gratitude to Hubei University of Automotive Technology for providing this opportunity to participate in the summer school program in China, which fulfilled their long-held dream of visiting the country. He stated that he and his fellow summer school participants would serve as ambassadors for cultural exchange, and looked forward to a pleasant and enriching learning experience.
The opening ceremony also featured a flag presentation ceremony and group photo session with delegation representatives.
It is reported that this is the first time that HUAT has held an international summer school. It is another result of the tenth anniversary of the continuation of the Jingyan collaborative counterpart project. It is also the first time that students from the Confucius Institute of Nkruma University of Science and Technology of HUAT have come to the school for exchange. It aims to respond to the national strategy of opening up education to the outside world, promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign education and humanities, promote the brand building of "study abroad at HUAT ", and continuously improve the international communication of the school.
