On July 12, the second council meeting of the Confucius Institute of Nkruma University of Science and Technology was held in the multi-functional conference room on the third floor of HUAT’s Industry-Education Building. Mr. Andrews Quasi Boateng, dean of Nkruma University of Science and Technology, Wang Xiao, president of HUAT, Zhang Hongxia, vice president, and other members of the Confucius Institute attended the meeting, Mr. Simon Mensa, Governor of Ashanti Province of the Republic of Ghana, Vivian, Director of Human Resources Department, Academic Affairs Office, Finance Office, International Cooperation and Exchange of our university The department and the relevant persons in charge of the secondary colleges attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Zhang Hongxia extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Mr. Simon Mensah, Governor of Ashanti Region, and Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, Provost of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Both sides exchanged gifts symbolizing the friendship between Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and HUAT.
Wang Xiao stated that since the establishment of the Confucius Institute, it has successfully carried out activities such as World Chinese Language Day and the founding of teaching sites. As a bridge for cultural exchange and cooperation between the two universities, the Confucius Institute has played a significant role in spreading Chinese culture and promoting the internationalization of education. He expressed high hopes for the future development of the Confucius Institute.
Mr. Daniel Doua, the foreign director of the Confucius Institute, presented a work report to the council. Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng acknowledged the achievements in the construction of the Confucius Institute and expressed expectations for deeper cooperation in faculty and student exchanges as well as scientific research collaboration, using the Confucius Institute as a platform.
The meeting deliberated and adopted the Confucius Institute Charter of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, laying a solid foundation for the standardized management and co-construction development of the Confucius Institute.
Zhang Hongxia stated that the Confucius Institute embodies the friendship between China and Ghana, and has fostered closer ties between Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Hubei University of Automotive Technology. She expressed anticipation for deeper cooperation between the two institutions in areas such as scientific research collaboration, faculty exchanges, and student study tours. She hopes the Confucius Institute will continue to serve as a platform to advance educational and cultural exchanges between China and Ghana to new heights.
It is reported that this event is an important part of the Chinese Bridge principal delegation program applied for by our university. The delegation from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana will also conduct a short-term exchange visit in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture.
Prior to the meeting, accompanied by Zhang Hongxia, the delegation visited HUAT’s new campus and the Science and Technology Innovation Exhibition and Exchange Center, and met with Ghanaian international students pursuing masters degrees at our institution.
