Confucius Institute of HUAT’ s first Mid-Autumn Magical Carnival

At 9 a.m. on September 16,Ghana time,Confucius Institute of HUAT hosted the Mid-Autumn Magical Carnival with the theme of"Moonlit Wisdom·Journey Through China "  in the grand auditorium of KNUST. The activity attracted over 100 participants, including university students, primary and secondary school, and local community members. Director and Vice Director of the Confucius Institute, along with all faculty members, participated in the activity.

After careful preparation and nearly two hours of preparation, the activity officially commenced at 9 a.m. jointly announced by Chinese Director Su Zibo and Foreign Director Daniel Duah. Su Zibo greeted all participants warmly in Chinese and gave a brief introduction to the traditional customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. He also taught Chinese phrases such as "Mid-Autumn Festival" (中秋节), "reunion" (团聚), and "longing" (思念), which sparked enthusiastic responses from the students. They cheered in unison, shouting "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!" (中秋节快乐!), creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.  


The Mid-Autumn Festival Magical Carnival adopted a point-based system, featuring activities such as handwritten bookmarks, peanut-picking with chopsticks, the ancient Chinese throwing game , hoop toss with Chinese character recognition, making Chinese-style key chains, and writing Chinese characters with water brushes. Amid laughter and excitement, participants not only learned Chinese but also experienced the traditional culture of the festival. The activity reached its highlight during the final point-redemption session.

Through the collective efforts of all faculty members, the Mid-Autumn Magical Carnival with the theme of"Moonlit Wisdom·Journey Through China " achieved a complete success. The activity not only opened a window for the local community to understand Chinese culture but also allowed participants to gain deeper insights into Chinese traditions through interactive games, immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
