On the afternoon of September 5th, thirteen students from the Confucius Institute at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana participated in a Chinese language course with the students from the School of Foreign Studies of Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) which was taught by Associate Professor Sun Yuan in Classroom SX301, Building of Industry and Education.
During the class, Confucius Institute students learned commonly used Chinese vocabulary and expressions for e-commerce via simulated mobile online shopping situations. This interactive and immersive learning method greatly enhanced the students' enthusiasm. The participants actively took part in classroom activities, practiced their oral communication skills, and got a taste of the charm of China's online shopping culture. Meanwhile, students from the School of Foreign Studies of HUAT also improved their bilingual communication abilities through peer-to-peer learning, living up to the Chinese adage “Those who teach learn twice.”

After the class, students from the Confucius Institute at KNUST reflected, “This class not only taught us essential Chinese shopping vocabulary but also let us experience 'online shopping' . Collaborating with peers from the School of Foreign Studies of HUAT created a supportive environment that inspired us to learn.” Mrs. Sun highlighted that immersive linguistic scenarios had not only fostered a profound cross-cultural interaction between Chinese and international students through real-life communication, but also clearly demonstrated the power of language education.
