On November 10th, the 5th Campus English Interpreting competition of "Telling China’s Stories and Translating China's Voices" was successfully held, which was sponsored by Foreign Languages College and co-sponsored by International Education College. Our international students participated in performances and competitions actively.
In the contextual interpretation part, international students took on tasks of 6 topics, and they were traditional Chinese festivals, birthdays, family relations, Chinese Kung fu —Tai Ji, the Belt and Road Initiative, and capital Beijing respectively. They expressed their truest feelings through their own experiences and understanding of these topics. The competition adopted the form of questions and answers, in this way we listened to China in the eyes of Chinese, which helped international students to further understand true and multi-dimensional China.
Moreover, our international students Meng Xiaoen and Ji Xiaolong sang the Chinese song "The Sun", and Meng Song sang the English song "Perfect", which eased the tense atmosphere of the contestants.
"Friendship, which derives from close contact between the people, holds the key to sound state-to-state relations", telling China's stories is the proposition of the times, and telling China's stories well is the mission of the times. When more and more international students come to China to study and then go to the world, they also have become the younger disseminators of Chinese culture, and can continue to transmit Chinese culture to the world.
