On May 30th, 2023, the first batch of undergraduate international students at our college participated in the graduation thesis defense in classroom 3205. During the defense meeting, 17 graduates presented and reported their graduation designs in the form of PPT and actual simulation operations, respectively from the aspects of research background, research objectives and significance, research content and methods, research achievements, technical implementation, research conclusions and analysis, research deficiencies and prospects. The defense committee evaluated the topic, framework structure, and specific content of the thesis, meanwhile, proposed modifications for each student's paper based on the revision situation, help the students improve their writing skills and comply with research norms. The students listened to the suggestions and opinions of the committee members with seriousness and humility and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the teachers for their guidance and advice.
On June 13th, the 2023 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferring Ceremony was held solemnly at the school's track and field. Among the participants were 17 full-time undergraduate international student graduates and more than 3,000 Chinese graduates. The ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Gao Ren.
The Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Tao read the appointmentdecision for the 2023 alumni liaison officers, and Jia Zhen, the alumni liaisonofficer for the graduating class of international students, accepted the appointment certificate on stage.
“Always remember the school's motto and strictly follow the teachings of our mentors.” The entire group of international student graduates raised their right fists and solemnly swore. Later, the dean of the International Education College delivered graduation gifts and blessings to the graduates. In the degree conferral ceremony, Zhang Hongxia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president, announced the 2023-degree conferral decision, which will award degrees to 17 international student graduates. Later, the international student graduates wearing academic robes walked up to the stage in turn，their mentors turned the tassel, presented certificates to them, had a friendly conversation, and took photos with them.
At the ceremony, President Wang Xiao on behalf of the school to expressed warm congratulations to the graduates of the class of 2023 who successfully completed their studies. Wang Xiao said that everyone has jointly experienced the rigorous and extraordinary pandemic test, and jointly participated in and witnessed the solemn and enthusiastic school celebration event, and everyone in HUAT has felt the spirit of unity is strength, fearless in difficulties, striving for progress.
On the evening of June 13, the 2023 graduation ceremony with the theme of “The original aspiration shines on HUAT, marching into a new journey.” was held, and the international student Meng Shane, sang the Chinese song “ Warm a Cup of Tea” affectionately, which won the applause of the scene. The graduation party presented three wonderful chapters, which showed the vitality of the students of HUAT, and expressed the best wishes for the graduates of HUAT.
On the morning of June 14, the School of International Education held the 2023 graduation symposium for international students in China in the Production Education Building. School leader Zhang Hongxia, School of Electrical and Information Engineering Dean Huang Haibo, Director of Academic Affairs Gong Aihong, School of International Education Dean Zhu Zhanwei, School of International Education Vice Minister Du Xinjun, Deputy director of the Security Department Zhang Hua, School of International Education Vice President Fang Peng and international student graduation advisor attended the symposium, chaired by Dean Zhu Zhanwei.
Vice President Zhang Hongxia delivered a speech and sent his best wishes to the international students and graduates. Zhang Hongxia said that in 2019, our university welcomed the first batch of international students, and now we are the first batch of graduates. With the efforts of our school to achieve several "firsts", she encouraged all graduates to strive for self-improvement in the future, introduce the harvest in China to more friends, and welcome students from all over the world to study in China.
Subsequently, all the graduates presented flowers to the teacher and thanked the teacher for his cultivation and dedication. The teachers also sent graduation gifts and sincere wishes to each graduate. In a harmonious atmosphere, Jia Zhen, the outstanding graduate representative, delivered a speech: "During the four years of study in HUAT, I worked with teachers and students to fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. I not only gained a lot in terms of cultural experience and professional knowledge, but also improved my teamwork ability." Other graduates also actively spoke, expressed the real feelings of studying in HUAT for four years, and put forward constructive opinions.
After the symposium, all the teachers and students took a group photo as a souvenir.
