On October 20th and 21st, the Governor of Ashanti Province of the Republic of Ghana Simon Mensah and his delegation, who had just concluded the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, visited our university, accompanied by Winfred Nii Okai Hammond, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to China.
The Ghanaian Governor and the Ambassador visited the extended campus (North Area), the school History Hall, the Formula Student team and the Science and Technology Innovation Exhibition Center. Zhang Wenxue, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, warmly introduced the development history of the school since its establishment in 1972 for more than 50 years, the achievements of running the school, the basic situation of the expansion of the campus (North Area) and the three-step development strategy of the school, as well as the iconic scientific and technological achievements formed by the school research team in the field of automobile intelligence, networking, lightweight, electrification and sharing. We sincerely invite the Governor and his delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute of Ghana Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to be held in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti Province at the end of the year.
After the visit, the two sides held a discussion and exchange ideas in the multi-functional conference room on the third floor of the Science and Technology Innovation Exhibition Center. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Zhang Hongxia. At the meeting, President Wang Xiao extended a warm welcome to the Governor of Ghana and the delegation of the Ambassador, and said that our university is looking forward to carrying out more extensive exchanges and cooperation with Ashanti Province of the Republic of Ghana, providing support for the reconstruction of the interrupted automotive major of Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, and connecting the establishment of automobile manufacturing (assembly) enterprises in Ghana. We will achieve win-win results in scientific research, personnel training and integration of industry and education.
During the visit, Governor Simon Osei-Mensah repeatedly expressed and wrote in the history hall of the school: He was deeply moved by Academician Meng Shaonong’s , the first president of the University and former member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, his car feelings and the spirit of serving the motherland, and was willing to contribute to the development of Ghana and the friendly exchanges between China and Ghana.
After the symposium, the Ghanaian governor and the Ghanaian Ambassador met with the Ghanaian students in our university, encouraging them to study hard and make contributions to the country, to cause development of the motherland and the friendship between the two countries.
It is reported that during the visit, the delegation was also met by Vice Mayor of Shiyan Zhang Shu, deputy secretary of the Party Group of the Standing Committee of the Shiyan Municipal People's Congress and deputy Director Ke Xianguo, and inspected Shiyan automobile field related enterprises, visited the revitalization of rural style, experience Chinese traditional culture, know more about the achievements of new rural construction.
