On March 8th, a group of experts from Chinese International Education Foundation, composed of Sun Yuhua, former President of Dalian International Study University, Zhou Zeyang, former President of Chongqing Normal University, Xu Lihua, Executive Director of Zhejiang Confucius Institute Teachers Center and African Chinese Education Practice and Research Base, and Li Jinke, Project Coordinator of Policy and Development Department of China International Education Foundation for Chinese , visited HUAT for investigation on the establishment of the Confucius Institute between Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and HUAT.
The meeting was chaired by Zhang Hongxia,Vice President.Zhang Wenxue warmly welcomed the arrival of the expert group and thanked the Foundation and Provincial Education Department for their strong support to the university over the years. He introduced the basic situation of Shiyan and the university's history. He said that the university attaches great importance to the inheritance and development of traditional and local culture,international exchanges and cooperation, and makes the application of Confucius Institute as a key task of the first work, and promotes it with the strength of the university. In the future, the university will further shoulder the political responsibility, closely combined with the university's positioning of building a first-class applied research university in China and the characteristics of the automobile industry, to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and to promote the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road".
It is believed that HUAT has the advantages of "the right time, the right place and the right people" to apply for the establishment of Confucius Institute. With the complete external and internal intellectual support, it is equipped with relatively mature conditions for the construction of Confucius Institute. He hoped that under the guidance of the expert group, the university could improve the conditions for applying for the establishment of Confucius Institutes as soon as possible, so as to better serve the local economic and social development, the construction of a strong province through education and the overall situation of national diplomacy.
Wang Xiao made a detailed report to the expert group from three aspects: the basic situation of the university, the application basis of the Confucius Institute between China and foreign parties, and the construction plan of the Confucius Institute. He said that the university should give full play to its characteristics and rely on the Confucius Institute to form the characteristics of "Chinese language + Automotive Engineering Technology" and cultivate local interdisciplinary talent,to strengthen the contact with related enterprises, to form a good situation of co-construction, co-management, symbiosis and win-win; It is necessary to give full play to the advantages of local Wudang culture and Han River culture, form teaching features, promote the construction and development of international Chinese language education, help China's new automobile technologies and standards go abroad, and build Confucius Institutes into windows and platforms for China-Africa cultural exchanges, automobile trade and industrial expansion.
The expert group highly praised the university leaders' attention to the construction of Confucius Institutes and their spirit of responsibility, fully affirmed the applying for Confucius Institutes, the assignment of teachers, the introduction of talents and the application plan, and put forward relevant suggestions and requirements from the aspects of policy support, management structure, personnel selection, discipline construction and professional characteristics.
After the meeting, the expert group visited the university's Science and Technology Innovation Exhibition and Exchange Center, History Hall, Wudang Cultural Research and Communication Center and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. internship base, watched Wudang martial arts and Wudang tea art performance, and was deeply impressed by university's cultural characteristics and automobile characteristics.
