Recently, the 10th Leica Cup National College Students Metallographic Skills Competition was held at Shanghai Jiaotong University. Three contestants from College of Materials Science and Technology ,HUAT won 1 first individual prize, 2 second individual prizes and team prize with their solid theoretical literacy and skilled practice ability. The instructor, Zhao Hongli, was awarded the First Class Medal of Honor.

Sponsored by the Material Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, the annual National College Student Metallographic Skills Competition is the highest and largest academic competition event in the material category for universities. The semi-finals and finals of the 10th National College Student Metallographic Skills Competition held in October 2021 on the Minhang campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University attracted 1,109 contestants in 371 teams from 370 universities.
