On May 8, vice president Mao Gaobo led a team to Dongfeng Citroen Automobile Company in Wuhan and attended a seminar about joint-programs co-training excellent engineering between HUAT and enterprises. During the seminar, Mao also visited students who are taking their internship and doing final thesis there.

The topic of the seminar centered around discussion about the training plans during the stage of internship and participants offered many useful opinions and suggestions. Li Weizhong, manager of human resources of Citroen Automobile Company spoke highly of the joint-program co-training talents between universities and enterprises. He said the practice opened another door for enterprises to select skilled personnel and shortened the growth cycle of students from universities to enterprises. Co-teachers from enterprises also made positive comments on students from HUAT and said these students were hard-working and quick in learning new things. Students representatives expressed their gratitude to HUAT and Dongfeng Citroen Company for providing such wonderful learning opportunities for them, exchanged experience and discussed the problems occurred during the internship.

In his final conclusion speech, Mao said that in order to further promote the “Excellent Engineers Program” and “ Enterprises Personnel Training Plan” and implement the reform of training mode of application-oriented engineering talents, HUAT and Dongfeng Citroen initiated the “orientation classes” with two classes as pilot classes so as to carry out the pilot work of engineering application. He said HUAT attached great importance to this initial practice and on behalf of HUAT, expressed his thanks to the Company for providing such a platform. Mao also said that for each program, it was important to draw experiences and find weak points during the practice so that both the university and enterprise can advance and perfect the training plan together, and achieve the final win-win goal.
