Recent news is released from the Ministry of Education, HUAT has officially become one of the participants of the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program (NCSIETP) with 10 projects approved and funded by the Ministry of Education, nine of which are about innovation training and one is about entrepreneur training. This is the first time for HUAT to be approved and funded since the plan was proposed by the Ministry of Education.

NCSIETP is an important part of “Undergraduate Education Engineering” within "the Twelfth Five -Year Plan" period proposed by Ministry of Education which aims to promote the concept of the transformation of education idea, reform the pattern of training talents, strengthen the innovative ability training, and improve the comprehensive quality of students so as to train highly qualified talents for the society.

HUAT has been carrying out the project since 2007 and up to now, 142 items have obtained funds within the university with a result of more than 600 students joining in the research activities, 47 papers published by students, 8 practical patents and 8 researches winning awards of Hubei Province college outstanding scientific research achievement . The access to the national project is preferred among the college students' innovative items recommended.
