A science and technology exchange meeting between HUAT and Dongfeng Motor Company (DFM) was held ceremoniously at HUAT on January 26th. The meeting was attended by top leaders from DFM such as Li Jiangang, the director of science and technology department, Xin Jixin, the director of technology center, Liu Jianwei, the chief engineer of vehicle materials technology, and other leaders from technology center of commercial trucks and R&D department such as Chu Dongning, Jiang Xuefeng and Xiao Jianghua. President Zhong Yuening, vice president Jianwei, Luo Yongge, and other department leaders and college deans also attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Zhong Yuening extended a warm welcome to the leaders from the three key departments of DFM and expressed his heartfelt thanks to so many years’ support and concern from DFM. After the welcome speech, president Zhong gave a brief introduction to the present construction and development of HUAT and made several proposals concerned with building of national-level cutting-edge laboratories, jointly applying for national projects, and etc. He said that HUAT would devote itself to promotion of overall abilities in teaching and education in future so as to benefit the development of DFM and economic progress of the society. All the participants had heated and harmonious discussions and negotiation about further win-win cooperation in the field of science and technology.

Mr. Li Jianggang said in his speech that, during the past forty years of development, HUAT had made tremendous contributions to DFM and even the whole automobile industry of China. With the established relationship like blood bond, the technical engineering department would continue to provide its support to HUAT according to what Mr. Zhu Fushou, the general manager of DFM, once promised on the occasion of 40^th anniversary of foundation of HUAT that DFM would “remain the same in three aspects” (the same care and concern, the same affection and bond, and the same support). When it came to the next step of cooperation, Mr. Li said that DFM would cooperate with HUAT in the fields of such technologies as entire vehicle design, transmission, engines, materials and equipments, and apply them to the development, production and manufacture of automobile so as to achieve win-win goals.
