On May 6, invited by HUAT, Mr. Watty, professor and dean of mechanical and automotive department of University of Applied Sciences of Ulm (HS ULm), Germany, began his 3 days’ exchange visit to HUAT and was warmly welcomed by president Zhong Yuning. 

During the meeting with Prof. Dr. Watty, President Zhong pointed out that HUAT had established long-term relations of cooperation with HS ULm and found a distinctive way in joint-cultivation of high level talents. He also expressed his hope that both sides would deepen the cooperation. Mr. Watty said that with more and more excellent students of HUAT going to HS ULm, their hard-working attitude and excellent performance were highly spoken of by his German colleagues. He would like to work together with Chinese colleagues to optimize teaching models and improve teaching quality. Mr. Wang Baohua, dean of , Ms. Feng Ying, party secretary of automotive engineering college and Ms. Ma Xun, director of international office also exchanged their opinions with Mr. Watty about the achievements, training and teaching methods of HS ULm and all of them expressed hope for the best in future cooperation. 

During the visit, Mr. Watty also interviewed 11 candidates applying for studying at HS ULm and carried out oral and written test for the candidates. On the evening of May 7th, Mr. Watty delivered a lecture for all the students of grade 1, 2 and 3. He made an overall introduction to the location, educational patterns, academic programs, teaching resources, research equipments and international cooperation of HS ULm. Some students also asked questions that they were interested in. On the last day of the visit, Mr. Watty visited the engine disassembling and assembling lab and proposed some valuable suggestions.
