On March 27th, UK-China Education Round-table-2015 organized by the British Embassy was successfully held in Wuhan University. The vice presidents from Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Bolton and University of Salford attended the forum. Also present at forum were representatives from Manchester China Forum, the British Business Council, the educational department of Hubei Province, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, Hubei University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Professor Zhou Haiying, dean of electrical and information college and Ms. Ma Xun, director of international office were also invited to participated in the forum.
As part of UK Week in Wuhan, which includes major series of business, cultural and bilateral activities, the round-table centers around Collaborative Opportunities such as Smart Cities, Sustainable Urbanization and other areas of mutual interest. Representatives from the above universities introduced their research fields and findings. Professor Zhou Haiying gave a brief introduction of HUAT and his research findings in smart cities, intelligent vehicle networking etc. Professor Elias Siores, vice president of University Bolton, also cooperative partner of HUAT, gave a brief introduction about energy research items, including research teams, fields and findings, and showed on the spot their research of pressure sensing fiber smart material and its application in cars, sails and railway sleepers and other application in everyday clothes.
During the exchange session, Professor Ma Xun had detailed discussion with professor Elias Siores and Ben Chan, international team leader of UOB about the cooperative program with University of Bolton, such as enrollment and program publicity in 2015, credits transfer and curriculum. Both sides agreed that they would make full preparation for the program and take the advantages of both sides to make program an international cooperative model.
