On the afternoon of January 13th, an appointment ceremony of the first Industrial professors of Hubei Province was held at Railway Bridge Reconnaissance and Design Institute Group Co. Ltd Wuhan China. Recommended by HUAT, Mr. Du Kongming, general manager of Dongfeng Precision Casting Co., Ltd. (DPCC Co., Ltd) and Mr. Wang Qiang, director of Dongfeng Equipment Manufacturing Factory (DEMF) were awarded as “industrial professors of Hubei Provincial Department of Education (HPDE), who appointed 23 entrepreneurs from different high-tech enterprises as professors who are applied for by universities in Hubei Province. Presidents from the applying universities issued nomination agreements to the 23 professors on the ceremony. This is the first time for HPDE to nominate industrial entrepreneurs to be professors in universities.
On behalf of the nominated professors, Mr. Wang Qiang made a speech entitled “Powered by the combination of production, learning, research and application, the development of self-made equipment will be speeded up quickly”. In his speech, Mr. Wang gave brief introduction to his factory and left more time talking about academician workstation at his factory. He said that DEMF had lay solid foundation in cooperation with HUAT in the fields of joint-training of excellent engineers, employment talented personnel and graduate training. He also said that he would cherish the honor of nomination of industrial professors and do his best as the director of a factory and as well as a university professor in the field of production, education, and research etc.
In the conclusion speech of the ceremony, Mr. Liu Chuantie, director of HPDE said that industrial professors were like “morning stars” who will bridge the needs of enterprises, companies and the research and education of universities. He believes that this trial practice will benefit both the enterprises and universities in their own ways.
The ceremony also attracted much attention from local TV stations, newspapers and radio stations. President Zhong and Mr. Wang Qiang were interviewed by the reporters and journalists and reporters after the ceremony.
