On the morning of June 19, the great campus hall was crowded with graduates of 2015, happy and excited because the graduation and degree awarding ceremony of 2015 was being held there.
"Dear Alma Mater, I assure that I will live up to the cultivation and expectation of you. I will work hard in my work, and achieve in my future career....”. Mr. Qu Feng, a graduate representative from Class T1113-5 made the farewell speech on the stage on behalf of nearly 2,000 graduates of the year 2015.
President Zhong Yuning made a passionate speech. He said "Like all you, my child is also going to graduate from another university this year. So as both an educator and parent, I'd like to share the joy with you and your parents, and tell you that we are pound of you because you’ve grown up with full swings. You are fully prepared and can start your brand new life of your own!”
President Zhong recalled in his speech the experience both the students and HUAT had undergone in the past 4 years when they first came to the campus they were immature and naive. And now, 4 years later upon their graduation, HUAT has developed quickly both in soft and hard facilities. The historical moments they have experienced, such as the 40th anniversary of foundation, accreditation of master’s degree, the program of automotive engineering being ranked the first enrollment within Hubei Province, the first joint-program with University of Bolton of Automotive Engineering (racing car) have made them hopeful and confident.
Comparing students to the three key parts of a car, engine, transmission and chassis, President Zhong asked the graduates should first have dreams, which functions as an engine to power the future career, and personal dreams be connected with the great dream of the country, carry on the Chinese spirit and take responsibility bravely. Second, they should be academically good at thinking, which functions as transmission working smoothly, so that they keep themselves mind-active and innovative so as to maximize the output of the engine during their future journey of career. And the last, they should be realistic, which functions as stable and supportive chassis so that they would control the direction precisely and speed up stably when they pursue the future goals.
Concluding his speech, president Zhong said sincerely and heartily: ”My dear students, whenever or wherever you are, please remember that your Alma Mater is always your strong backup for your future career and spirit back garden. You are welcome to come home whenever you want. Bless you all!”
