Several days ago, the 8th National Mechanical Design Contest of three-dimensional Design Contest of Digital Innovation-2015 (referred to as the national 3D contest) ended in Changzhou, Jiangshu Province. Students from Mechanical Engineering School, with the guidance of their teachers and their excellent works, won one first prize for their 3D-printing innovation, two second prizes and third prizes for industrial and engineering design, one second prize and two third prizes for reverse design.
The contest lasted for 10 months in total. During the period of several months’ careful preparation, the team had been trying to meet the functional requirements to work around structure innovation, function innovation, lightweight design while carrying out CAD, CAE and CAM engineering analysis to their work by means of 3D digital technology. Their performance won recognition of experts and judges during the contest.
The contest was initiated and organized by 3D Power Company with the guidance of the national Ministry of science and technology, Ministry of education, China Association for science and technology. Later on, the contest had other companies and institutes like manufacturing information training center of 3D Dynamic Union, China Graphic Association, Guanghua design development foundation.
