 The Collections of Calligraphy on Hand-made Paper Are Exhibited at Hubei Provincial Library

An exhibition about hand-made paper works of professor Wang Zhanbei, with the theme of “I come from the ancient time-Traditional culture exhibition”, was held at Hall 1 of Hubei Provincial Library on April 15th. This is the first time HUAT is invited to hold an exhibition for its art achievement.


 

As was reported in a previous article, professor Wang invited more than 60 masters of calligraphy to leave their ink on the paper. This kind of traditional paper made of skins of different plants by hand was one of the paper used to keep records of things in ancient China. This time at the exhibition, some of the procedures in which paper was made were also exhibited. More than 40 kinds of paper on which calligraphy is produced come from more than 40 parts of the country, such Lasha in Tibet, Hetian in Xinjiang, Panzhihua in Guizhou, Qufu in Shangdong and Yunyang in Hubei. Every piece of paper showed magnificent skills of the local craftsman.
