On March 18, accompanied by 2 colleagues from China office of University of Bolton (UoB), Ms. Fozia Uddin, Partnership Relations Manager and Ms. Erping Zhou, Programme Leader of MSc Systems Engineering and Management of UoB, visited HUAT for the joint program between the two universities. Both parties held a meeting about some details and potential problems concerned with the joint program of automotive engineering for undergraduate teaching. The meeting was held from 9 o'clock to 12 in the morning. Vice president Luo Yongge, directors and teacher representatives related to the program attended the meeting.
Mr. Wang Baohua, Dean of school of automotive engineering gave a brief introduction about HUAT, including its history, talent cultivation mode, the level of academic research with highlight on students' innovative practice platform and investment by HUAT. He also talked about the achievements made by the students’ racing car team in recent 3 years, which aroused great interest of the partners.
Other teachers in the program also expressed their opinions about how to teach their own courses and said they would try their best to let the students learn more tan well in their future study.
Mr. Luo Yongge fully affirmed the significance of the meeting and said HUAT had provided the program with special support in the aspect of arrangement of courses and class hours, teachers and teaching facilities etc. He also encouraged the teachers in the program to exchange ideas, experience and even hold seminars to discuss and solve the problems that might occur so as to make the program a real model.
Ms. Uddin and Ms.Zhou showed great interest in Mr. Wang Bao’s introduction and other teachers’ comments and suggestions and also cut in once in a while with questions they were interested in. Ms.Uddin said what she had seen and heard showed that HUAT did attach much significance to the program and she and her university would be glad with and thankful to what HUAT had done for the program, which also gave them full confidence to make the program run smoothly.
In the afternoon, accompanied by the staff of international cooperation and exchange office, they visited a newly-built heavy truck factory and some other places on the campus, such as labs at school of automotive engineering, students’ studio of racing car team, the library and teaching buildings. They even went into the classrooms where foreign teachers and students in the program were having classes and had short communication with them.
