In the second batch of reform pilot schools of Hubei Province is the School of Material Science and Engineering of HUAT, according to a document issued by Hubei Provincial Educational Department (HPDE).

School reform aims to set up a special experimental zone of education and teaching reform in the colleges of universities. It is a kind of reform based on school, which focuses on the reform of talents training systems by means of cooperation between schools and social innovation. Four years as a cycle of the reform, HPDE will monitor the reform in motion while the ones with outstanding achievements will be set up as model school and the ones with few achievements will be eliminated from the batch.

A director teaching affairs office says that following instructions of HPDE and according to its own features, HUAT will further clarify the subject of school reform, revise and improve reform plan, strengthen the work of pilot reform and evaluation of result and provide policy and funding support so as the reform will go smoothly and successfully.
