On May 26, Mr. Smith, dean of School of mechanical engineering of University of Bolton, UK, Mr. Sinclair, and Ms. Erping Zhou, director of Mechanical master programme visited HUAT to advance the joint program between the two universities.
Ms. Ma Xun, director of international office expressed warm welcome to the guests. She also expressed her thanks to the guests for their support to and help with the teachers sent to study at UoB and students of summer camp. She also gave a general introduction to the international programs with other universities abroad and the joint programme between UoB and HUAT .
Then, Mr. Smith and his colleagues held talks with some Chinese teachers in the joint program and discussed some issues concerned with courses taught by foreign teachers, maths courses, teaching models and contents. Mr. Wang Baohua, dean of school of automotive engineering, Ms. Feng Ying, branch party secretary of the school and Ms. Jin Yan, joint program director also attended the meeting.
After the meeting, Mr. Smith and Ms. Zhou gave a lecture entitled “Introduction to Engineering at University of Bolton” and “Robotics - an Introduction” for about 200 students. The students in the joint program also exchanged their opinions about courses taught by foreign teachers. In respond to student’s questions, Mr. Smith said they would work our more reasonable courses after visiting some labs and racing car studio.
