According to news released by Hubei Provincial Education Department, Wudang Culture Research and Communication Center (WRCC) has become one of the key research bases of humanity and social science of Hubei Province. It is also the first time for HUAT to have a provincial humanity and social science base and a result showing more than ten years of contribution that HUAT has made towards the research of Wudang culture.
WRCC is a research institute with Professor Yang Lizhi as a leading researcher, committing itself to promoting Wudang culture with integration of resources inside and outside of the campus, serving for the development of local economy and society. As a unique research platform with Wudang culture as its subject within Hubei Province, WRCC has won significant support from local government, Wudang Special Zone, Wudang Taoist association etc since its foundation. HUAT also gives priority to Wudang culture as a key program construction by favorable policy and investment of software and hardware.
In recent years, WRCC has made progressive achievements in promoting and researching Wudang culture, and even has had a breakthrough in the areas of education and teaching, research and social service. For example, the publication of An Introduction to Wudang Culture, which won the second prize for textbooks in Hubei Province, the first one in northwest area of Hubei Province to get funded from National Social and Science Foundation, a breakthrough in applying for projects of humanity and social science from the Ministry of Education, more than 20 provincial and state projects, publication of more than 20 books and 100 essays, more than 2 million Yuan research fund and more than 20 scientific research prizes from the city and province.
