Mr. Ma Chun Jiang, another teacher from school of electrical and information engineering gave a report entitled “My understanding of studying and living abroad” in fluent English. In his understanding, oral English is very important for one studying and living abroad and how to improve his oral English in a short time. Unlike some other English learners, he didn’t think it useful to improve one’s oral English by doing testing papers, listening to English songs, watching English films and plays or reading English newspapers or novels, instead, the best and quickest way improve one’s English is to look for chances to talk with foreigners from English speaking countries or someone whose English is better than he or she is, to put English practice into his or her lives. Compared with grammar and pronunciation, he attaches more importance to the practice of Chinese into English.

Ms. Wubing, vice CUC of HUAT also attended the lecture. She said after listening to the lecture that she harvested a lot and what the lectures talked about had reference value for new round of revision of personnel training programs. We should think more about what courses are suitable for our students and what we can draw from the advanced ideas abroad.
