On May 11th, sponsored by National Alliance of Excellent Engineering Education of Local University and Alliance of Engineering Education, the Summit Forum of Engineering Education Reform and Development of Local Universities was held at Hunan Institute of Engineering. More than 200 educators and experts from more than 100 universities like Zhejiang University, Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Wenzhou University attended the forum and exchanged their opinions about reform and future development of engineering education of local universities.
Zhang Youbing, vice president of HUAT, made a speech entitled A research and practice of reformed engineering education guided by upgrade of automotive engineering. In his speech, Mr. Zhang made a report on the investigation into automotive industries and development of new economy, focusing on the settings of major clusters and education which rooted in automotive industries, such as car design, car material, car manufacturing, vehicle transmission and control etc. He also made a brief introduction about typical engineering education like cooperation with enterprises, student formula car racing project and smart car driving research. At the end of his report, he also pointed out that how HUAT, as a local university with its own unique features could follow the trend of future development of automotive industries and the path of transformation development, and through integrating various resources from local government, university, enterprises and local communities, how HUAT carried out joint education with features so as to train highly qualified graduates with innovation abilities for automotive industries and new driving force of local economy and society. Mr. Zhang’ speech was highly commented and caught much attention among the audience.
