On September 12th, there was a small gathering between students returning from Germany and teachers in an office room of the international cooperation and exchange office. The students shared their study experience and life in Germany. Wang Zhilei, one of the students said that he had finished his double-degree courses at the Ulm University of Applied Science and was admitted as a graduate student by University of Hanover and other students also gave a full account of their opinions about teaching model, methods and management of German higher education. They also put forward to some practical and useful suggestions about the double degree program between the two universities.
In the evening, the students also had a meeting with the students of Grade 14, 15 and 16, who are going to apply for the program and study at Ulm in the next years. They offered some tips for the would-be candidates that priority is to have a clear goal of studying in Germany and make a study plan as early as possible. Besides, it is necessary to have a mind strong enough to tolerate loneliness when studying abroad and learn to study by oneself. And finally, it is also important to get oneself involved in the study environment of German higher education.
Ms. Ma, director of international cooperation and exchange office said that except German language qualification and a good command of special knowledge, self control and management was also very important. She asked that all the students combine their future goals with contemporary goals and study, take the chance to improve their comprehensive abilities so that their way to study abroad would be smooth and steady.
Since 2008 when the program was in operation, 27 students have finished their study and graduated from the University of Applied Science in Ulm and other 24 students are studying there now. A meeting of students returning from Germany with the up-coming students has become a regular activity.
