On September 19th, a team consists of directors in charge of undergraduate programs went to Dongfeng Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (D.E.M) and Dongfeng General Forging Factory (D.G.F.F) for investigation, acquiring information about new situation and technology of automobile manufacturing and equipment industry, their need for talents other related persons also join the team.
At D.E.M, the team were warmly welcomed by Mr. Liu Xiangqing, director of welding factory, and Mr. Liang Jiuxin, who were welding factory director Liu Xiangqing and general secretary Liang Jiuxin, director of logistic department of the company. Mr. Liu made a special report entitled “A research and analysis of the elements of key technology for intelligent welding workshops” and he also made a brief introduction of the history of the company, organization patterns, new technology of welding products and machine tools and the strategic plan of the company in the field of smart manufacturing. He said that the company had started transformation from automation to intelligentization, forming a system of intelligent equipment production, management and remote service. For the future development of enterprises, he hopes that college students should strengthen their study in soft ware programming and information technology because the need of enterprises for virtual design, smart management and service will be great in amount.
After the report and introduction, all the team members had a heat discussion about issues such as industrial the Internet and new situation of welding technology. And then Mr. Liu took the team members around the manufacturing shops at the new factory location and showed them their new technology and products.
At their second stop, the team visited D.G.F.F, where they were warmly accepted by Mr. Yuan Sanhong and other leaders of the factory and visited the newly-built die-casting line of aluminum alloy gearbox and machine operation line.
After the visit, Mr. Yuan Sanhong made a report about the future development of their factory. He pointed out that the the focus of future development of casting industry would lie in construction of a society around environment protection and energy saving, substantial attention to the research of basic technology, realization of light-weight products and informalization and intelligization of manfacturing. When talking about the plan of “a small giant project of "colored low pressure and differential pressure casting”, he said a qualified technician should be capable of such knowledge as project management, information processing, data analysis, CAE design and finite element analysis etc. After the report, the team members had discussion about light weight and other issues with the engineering of the factory.
During the activity, Ms. Zhang Hongxia director of teaching department expressed, on behalf of the school, her thanks to the companies for the opportunities they provided for the team members. She said with program advantages, the school would deepen the contact with the companies and provide service so as to advance the reform of education of production, learning and research.
This is the first time for program directors and groups to get involved in such an activity of investigation and training. The purpose is to deepen the reform of talent training in combination of production and teaching, make related teachers in the programs aware of the information of new technology and situation in their own field, learn about the need of enterprises for talents so that the training programs would be integrated quickly into automotive industry chain and the construction of local economy.
