News released from Shiyan Municipal Bureau of human resources and social affairs says that two professors of HUAT are awarded the honorary title of "outstanding talents of the year 2017 in Shiyan". One of them is Professor Luo Cheng from school of materials science and engineering, who is one of the expert gaining Shiyan government allowance, the other is professor associate professor Mei Jianwei from school of electrical and information engineering, who is awarded as Shiyan Excellent Young Talents.

It is reported, the selection of outstanding talents in Shiyan is carried out every two years. In 2017, 97 outstanding talents were commended, among them, there were 10 experts with outstanding contribution to Shiyan, 20 experts of special allowance of Shiyan municipal government, and 67 Excellent Young Talents in Shiyan. The selection range covers engineering technology, economic management, agriculture, forestry and water technology, scientific research, popularization and application of scientific and technological achievements, education, health, culture and art, news and publishing, sports and other natural and social science and technical personnel, as well as enterprise management personnel, high skilled personnel and excellent rural practical talents.
