According to news recently released by the Ministry of Education, another two programs have been approved to be undergraduate programs of HUAT, the total of which amounts to 34. One of them is metal material engineering and the other is Translation, which is also the first program to be opened in the universities of northwest of Hubei Province.

The two programs take into consideration of the need of local society and economy and take the advantage of available teaching and research resources so as to provide more qualified and practical talents for the development of local economy and business.

The program of metal materials engineering is meant to cultivate applied engineering talents in the field of automotive industry as well as the field related to design, manufacturing, test and research and production management in metal materials.

The program of translation provide students of English majors with more choices in specialization in addition of literature, business etc. The courses in the program will offer students more training in wide horizon in international issues, profound basis in humanity as well as solid foundation in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and most important of all, easy and fluent translation from English to Chinese and from Chinese to English. The courses in the program also cover some knowledge related to automotive technology, culture and its history, which will make it easier for the students in the program to understand and deal with materials related to automotive industry.
