The 7th Sino-French Conference of New Information Communication Science and Technology for Sustainable Development (NICST 2018) was held in Hilton Hotel in Shiyan City. It was hosted by HUAT and organized by CNRSLIA-Sina-French Sustainable Development Intelligent Computing Lab Center, Shiyan City Government and HUAT. Mr. Zhang Youbing, vice president of HUAT presided the conference which was attended by many guests from Shiyan City Government, research instituions, universities and research centers as well as representatives from enterprises and companies.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Cheng Hongbing, Secretary of the Party committee, delivered a speech. He expressed his warmest welcome to the leaders, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs, and expressed his sincere appreciation and sincere thanks to the friends of the French, leaders at all levels and from all walks of life for their continuous concerned with and support for the development of HUAT. He said HUAT is the only university in the country that is named with automotive industry. It has always been unswervingly taking the road of cooperation and education and collaborative innovation. It has delivered more than 60 thousand outstanding talents for the automotive industry and local economic and social development, and is known as the cradle of automobile engineers. The school has strong scientific research strength and outstanding comparative advantages, especially in automobile, machinery, materials, electronics and other aspects, which have outstanding academic advantages and characteristics, and has precipitated in plentiful scientific and achieved lots of technological achievements. The school attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation and maintains a long and close scientific research cooperation and international cooperation with many foreign colleges and universities. In recent years, its exchanging activities with UCA (Université Clermont Auvergne) and UTBM (Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard) in scientific research projects, talent training and teachers academic exchanges have achieved fruitful results. The first group of students in the program of "3+3" are now studying in France, and the second group of double degree students are now on the way applying for visas. In addition, a joint doctorate training program with UTBM has been carried out, and two international scientific research cooperation projects have been successfully declared and a number of outstanding achievements have been obtained. Mr Hou Kun-mean, a special professor at the University of UCA, is coming to work at HUAT in full time funded by the "100 person plan foreign experts" in Hubei province. The excellent young teachers of our university will also go to UCA to carry out academic exchanges. Cheng Hongbing pointed out that the sustainable development of information science and technology based on the "large data artificial intelligence" and "the intelligent application of the Internet of things" is promoting the economic transformation and development of the local industry and the construction of modern ecological civilization. "Ecological environment restoration and environmental protection engineering of the core water source area of South to North Water Diversion" and "new engineering personnel education for Automotive Engineers" will gather experts and scholars at home and abroad, industry personages and government representatives to discuss the development of industrial economy and ecological characteristics and talent cultivation in Shiyan. He sincerely hopes that the conference will be a new starting point to promote the cooperation between the top experts and industrial representatives in the school and the industry to carry on the frontier science and technology exchange and the cooperation of production, learning and research, and to explore the new model of scientific and technological cooperation, such as scientific research cooperation, achievement incubation and synergistic innovation to realize mutual benefit and cooperation.
During the conference, Mr. Alain Quilliot, chairman of the conference, Mr. Mo LAN, representative of French Consulate General in Wuhan, Mr. Li Lanheng, representative of French Science and Research Center, China District and Ms, Liu Yunmei, vice Mayor of Shiyan City government also made speeches.
At the conference, many experts made reports on their recent findings in their own research fields, for example, "Guizhou big data strategic action and application example - FAST mass data processing" made by Mr. Xie Xiaoyao, "New trends and Challenges in Operations Research" made by Mr. Quilliot and "technology empowerment, innovation drive" made by Mr. Zhou Jianguang. More than 80 scientists and well-known scholars also discussed the ecological environment restoration and environmental protection of the core water source area of the south to North Water Diversion, education of the new engineering automobile engineers, the big data & artificial intelligence, the intelligent application to the Internet and so on.
At the end of the conference, Mr. Zhang Youbing, vice president of HUAT, made a closing speech. He said that the conference is an exciting and intelligent exchange. More than 20 themed reports with diverse forms, rich contents and fruitful results showed the conference is successful. He pointed out that the success of this conference would have a positive effect on promoting the sustainable development of information science and technology as well as on the development of local industrial economy and the construction of ecological civilization, and will also better promote the new information science and technology for sustainable development in China and France and in other countries of Europe.
