On May 29th, Mr. Sun Luyi, professor of the Department of chemical and biological engineering at University of Connecticut, present deputy editor in chief of RSC Advances, came to HUAT for academic exchange at the invitation funded by “The World-Famous Scientists Lecturing in Hubei”, a project sponsored by Hubei Educational Department.
At 9:30 in the morning, professor Sun held talks with teachers of school of materials science and engineering. Mr. Zhang Yuanhao, the school dean, made a welcome speech and then made an introduction to the overall situation of HUAT and its schools, focusing on the characteristics of the school and the achievements of the college. Subsequently, Professor Sun and the teachers exchanged views on the application of scientific research projects, the publication of high-level articles, the research trends and directions in their own fields, and the management and control of the quality of undergraduate teaching. After the meeting, Professor Sun visited the laboratory of the school of materials science and engineering and the practice training field. He gave a high opinion about characteristics based on the car industry.
In the afternoon, Professor Sun gave an academic lecture entitled “Multi-functional biological nano coating: the performance change from complete film to micro crack”. Attending to the lecture were teachers and students from the school of materials science and engineering, the school of automotive engineering, and the school of mechanical engineering. After the lecture, Professor Sun also interacted with teachers and students and answered their questions.
