On May 25, President Zhong Yuning, vice president Zhang Youbin and Mr. Guo Douxi, director of president office went to Wuhan and held talks with leaders of DFM (Dongfeng Motor Company), the founder of HUAT.

At 8:30 in the morning, Mr. Zhong and his companions came to the headquarters of DFM in Wuhan and had a first meeting with Mr. Li Shaozu, general manager of DFM. After attentive listening to a brief introduction about the current situations and problems faced by HUAT, Mr. Li expressed his sincere hope for the educational cause of HUAT. He believes that in general HUAT has been developing smoothly and successfully in the past decades. He also recalled the time when he was a deputy manager of DFM and in charge of HUAT, when HUAT was still subordinate to DFM. He said that HUAT should work hard at a higher and stronger goal, further deepen its cooperation with enterprises, especially with DFM in all fields. It is necessary to take the road of quality development, care for every student, improve the students' learning methods, strengthen the construction of the recruitment source base, and prepare for the students' employment in advance. He pointed out that by promoting the reputation of racing car team, Meng Shaonong scholarship, and other local features such as "Wudang mountains, Han River etc, HUAT should make itself an outstanding university with the spirit of humanity, science and tradition, which should not only be embodied on the students on campus, but also on the alumni after graduation. He also proposed a life-long system for students’ training, contact and care. Finally, he said that HUAT should make full use of all kinds of social resources, motivate all the staff’s potentials and provide good service for automotive industry and development of local society and economy.

After meeting with leaders of DFM, Mr. Zhong and his companions also visited some other department directors of DFM and some alumni in Wuhan.
