On October 15, the 2018 7th China Automobile Design Competition award grand ceremony was held in Shiyan Century 100 Yage International Hotel. The festival was co-sponsored by the China Automobile Engineering Society and the Shiyan Municipal People's Government. Mr. Zhang Weiguo, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC Hubei Province, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Mr. Yan Jianlai, deputy Secretary-General of the China Automobile Engineering Society , Mr. Cheng Hongbing, Secretary-General of the Hubei University of Automotive Technology, Mr. Luo Yuanhong, assistant General Manager of Dongfeng Motor Comapny, Mr. Liu Haijun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of Political and Legal Committee, Ms. Wang Xiao, vice mayor ofthe Municipal Party Committee, and Mr. Zhu Shaohua, Dongfeng Shiyan Management Director, attended the award ceremony.
Mr. Yan Jianlai, Deputy Secretary General of the China Automotive Engineering Society, delivered a speech at the awards ceremony. He said that the purpose of holding the China Automobile Design Competition was to train talents, train excellent automotive designers for the motherland, and let the automotive design of our country go better and better on the road of independent development. In order to sustain the talent, the competition specially adds a group of children, aimed at allowing contemporary young people to stay away from mobile phones, online games, pick up a brush to paint a beautiful picture. At the same time, Shiyan as the base of SAW should revolve around the automotive technology innovation to create a glorious city of automotive culture! Yan Jianlai told the contestants, "The results are not the most important but the experience of the first half year is the most valuable wealth. I hope everyone can accumulate more valuable experience. I will wait for you in the automotive industry."
It is learnt that the theme of this competition is "Dao, Feichangdao”, which means to do something in a unique way, pursuing an oriental design style of combination of cars and human beings so as to put the ethnic culture and Chinese elements into the car design and create a kind of automotive culture typical of Chinese.
The future lies in hands of children with strong personality and characteristics. That’s why many children are also invited to participate the competition. As the future of automotive industry, the junior group was awarded with series of prizes called “Stars with Car Dreams”.
Prosperity lies in the hands of the Youth. In the adult group, winners were also rewarded with an honorable title called “Golden Point of Excellent Young Designers”, who made speeches when they were awarded.
It is reported, that HUAT students have won 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 2 excellent prizes in China Automobile Design Competition, special support prize, best organization prize, best talent contribution prize, and two licenses from China (Shiyan) Automobile Culture Industry Research Center and China (Shiyan) Automobile Industry Design Training Base. Zhong Wang, a teacher in HUAT, won the award of excellent tutor.
