On the afternoon of April 24th, at the invitation of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Professor Ian Smith, the chief coordinator of the cooperation project between the University of Bolton (UOB) and HUAT, as well as Doctor James Xi Gu attended the international salon held at the Teachers’ Development Center, who gave us a lecture on British education system and discussed with teachers from HUAT for exchange of views.
Professor Ian Smith gave a brief introduction to the University of Bolton at first and then he systematically talked about the characteristics of British education, followed by a brief introduction to the Engineering Council by Doctor James Xi Gu,during which teachers are always asking questions about their own interests and they answered the teachers' questions about British education system and its teaching philosophy & methodology as well as teacher promotion and development in the UK.
In September 2014, HUAT and the University of Bolton jointly started an undergraduate education program of vehicle engineering major with the approval from Ministry of Education P.R.C. The programme combines the automotive engineering advantage of HUAT with the superior engineering education concept of the University of Bolton in the UK, which has 223 enrolled students now, and 7 of the students from 2014 session went to the UK for further study. In addition, from 2016 to 2018, HUAT has sent three groups of students to the University of Bolton to participate in the overseas study tour, a programme initiated by Hubei Province for outstanding college students.
