From June 26th to 30th, 2019, HUAT delegation led by Vice President Zhang Youbing were on a friendly visit to our UK partner University of Bolton (UOB). Among the members of the delegation are Feng Ying, Dean of the College of Automotive Engineering, Zhang Yuanhao, Dean of College of Materials Engineering, Li Jian, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, and Ye Hui, teacher from College of Foreign Languages.

During the visit, Zhang Youbing and Vice President of UoB, Mr. Richard Thomas, looked back on the achievement of the cooperation between the two universities ever since 2014, and expressed intention for and discussed the details of further cooperation in the next 5 years.

Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on promoting the Sino-foreign cooperative education program between HUAT and UOB. Ever since the approval of the program by the Ministry of Education P.R.C in 2014, which is currently undergoing evaluation, the number of enrolled students has reached nearly 230 after 5-year successful implementation. The first cohort of students from the program graduated successfully in June 2019, some of whom continue to pursue further study in the UK. Students from this program are  widely acclaimed  with  international vision and competition spirit after being immersed in international education atmosphere.

During the visit, Zhang Yuanhao gave a detailed introduction to the College of Materials Engineering, and a roadmap for cooperation has been planned after in-depth discussions on the further cooperation in materials science between the two universities in the near future.

Zhang Youbing and the delegation also extended their hearty greetings to the teachers and students from HUAT and inquired in detail about their lives in the UK, and encouraged them to cherish the opportunities of studying abroad. The students were very happy and promised they would cherish these opportunities to study hard and live up to the expectations from the school and their families.

The visit has played a positive role in promoting cooperative education, researcher exchanges, joint project applications, and the establishment and development of cooperative education bases and centers.
