On the afternoon of May 24th,HUAT showed his warmest welcome to the distinguished guests from ’2019 Beijing Academicians & Experts Shiyan Tour’-You Zheng, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Hao Han, Associate Professor and Deputy Party Secretary of School of Vehicle and Mobility in Tsinghua University. Ke Xianguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of Shiyan EDA (Economic Development Area), Zeng Xiangcheng, Deputy Director of Organization Department of Shiyan Municipal Committee, as well as Party Secretary of HUAT, Cheng Hongbing, President Zhong Yuning, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Yang Lizhi, Vice Presidents Jian Wei and Zhang Youbing attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, the ‘Same Roots’ commemorative ceremony reminiscing about the first president of HUAT -Meng Shaonong was held in front of his bronze statue in Yifu Library, who is also the founder of automotive major in Tsinghua University. All the participants commemorated Meng’s achievement and presented the flower baskets to his bronze statue.
At 2:30 pm, the 34th ‘Mingde’ Forum with the report full of wisdom and inspiration given by You Zheng was held in the auditorium, where more than 1,000 teachers and students listened carefully to the master's teachings as a scientific feast and were encouraged to release their ideals and to work hard.
After the report, You Zheng visited the Provincial Key Laboratory of Power Transmission and Electronic Control, the Active Safety and Intelligent Driving Research Institute, and HUAT F1 Formula Team, who gave a high praise to HUAT's characteristics focusing on automobile industrial chains and excellent results achieved by HUAT Formula One Team.
