On the afternoon of December 16, 2019, the opening ceremony of 2019 international students was held in 1305. President Zhong Yuning and Vice President Zhang Youbing attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office -Ma Xun, Director of Academic Affairs Department- Zhang Hongxia, Director of Campus Construction and Management Department- Yuan Renfeng, Director of Security Department- Ding Jiahe, Dean of College of Electrical and Information Engineering-Chen Yufeng, faculties and volunteer representatives, and staff of ICEO attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Zhang Youbing.
Zhang Youbing firstly introduced the leaders and guests presented at the ceremony and extended a warm welcome to the arrival of new international students.
Faculties representative Tang Hai welcomed the international students who have joined the HUAT family and started their new chapters of study and life. On behalf of all the faculties, he promised that he would seriously perform his duties as a teacher and spare no efforts to help international students adapt to their new life and major studies.
Sanfo from Burkina Faso, the representative of the 2019 international students, said that the admission to HUAT made him very excited. In the following study life, he will strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the university, and study major courses and Chinese language, as well as being familiar with Chinese culture through active participation in various activities for improving his ability and quick adaption to the new life as soon as possible with other international students.
On behalf of all the volunteers, Wen Jiabao, a junior student from the College of Automotive Engineering, warmly welcomes the arrival of international students and expresses that he will dedicate to the volunteer work in the future and make progress with them.
Zhong Yuning extended heartfelt congratulations and warm welcomes to the 2019 international students, and briefly introduced the university's history, faculties, discipline and majors, talent training achievements, as well as international cooperation and exchanges. He pointed out that the students who are going to study in HUAT are witnesses and builders of China's development and integration with the world since China is carrying forward the in-depth promotion of the "Belt and Road" initiative and sharing development achievements with people from all countries in the world.As the president, he hoped that the international students shall study Chinese language and culture as well as professional knowledge in happiness,abide by laws and university regulations,respect the different cultural customs of various countries, and promote international friendship.
A ceremony of wearing university badges for the international students’ representatives was also held afterwards. Ultimately, all the faculties and students who participated in the ceremony posed for pictures together.
2019 witness the first year for HUAT‘s recruitment for international students, and the International Cooperation and Exchange Office has actively carried out the mission ever since August last year. A total of 22 international students from 6 countries have joined the HUAT family, which opens a new chapter in HUAT history.
