From November 12th to 13th, Ms. Allen, the director of the international programs of Kettering University, and Ms. Tamara, the deputy director of the admissions office, visited HUAT. Vice President Jian Wei,who visited KU last month, welcomed them.
On the afternoon of November 12, Ms. Allen came to the International Cooperation and Exchange Office to discuss issues concerning the "2 + 2" dual degree program for undergraduates between the two universities and the summer camp of Kettering University, and then she visited HUAT students F1 workshop.
On the evening of November 12, Ms. Allen held a "2 + 2" program & summer camp lecture in classroom 6213. Su Zibo, deputy director of international cooperation and exchange office, Mr. Zhang Jiwei from the College of Automotive Engineering, who visited Kettering University in 2019, attended the lecture. Ms. Allen gave a detailed explanation on the KU's major application, scientific research, teaching mode, tuition and employment advantages. She patiently answered questions and introduced the current operating status and characteristics of the project. After that, she also introduced in detail the theme, time, application requirements of the KU's summer camp.
At 9 am on November 13th, Allen, and Tamara, came to the International Cooperation and Exchange Department to discuss the possibility of joint education program and "3 + 2" master degree program in mechanical engineering. Ma Xun, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Su Zibo, deputy director, Liu Rong, deputy director of the teaching affairs office, and Zhou Xueliang, deputy dean of the College of Mechanical Engineering, attended the meeting.
It is reported that Kettering University, formerly known as General Motors College, is located in Flint, Michigan, USA, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, mathematics and business education. It currently has 13 undergraduate degrees and 12 master degrees. The school advocates a combination of teaching and practice because of its well-known Co-Operation education model. HUAT and Kettering University have similar corporate culture background. Since 2012, the two universities began to cooperate in the "2 + 2" dual degree program for undergraduate. Students will complete the first two years here in HUAT and the next two years at Kettering University. The two years of study at Kettering consist of two parts: 5 semesters of classroom courses and 3 semesters of cooperation education. Students who complete the courses specified in the undergraduate training program as required can obtain a degree certificate issued by both universities.
