From October 6th to October 13th, 2019, Deputy Secretary of HUAT CPC Committee Yang Lizhi was invited to lead an official visit to Ulm University of Applied Technology in Germany and the Centria University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Director of Publicity Department Ji Yibo, party secretary of the College of Mechanical Engineering Gong Aihong, and Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Su Zibo, accompanied the visit.
During the visit to Ulm University of Applied Technology, Germany, Yang Lizhi and President Volker Reuter reviewed the cooperation and friendship between the two universities that was forged nearly 3 decades ago and said that the two sides will continue to promote the double degree program, and hope to develop new cooperation in fields such as summer camp and exchange students.
Yang Lizhi and the delegation members also visited HUAT students studying at the university. Yang asked them in detail about their study and life in Germany, encouraged them to carry forward the traditions of HUAT—diligence and hard-working spirit, and actively promote the joint education program between HUAT and Ulm University of Applied Sciences.
It is reported HAUT has sent a total of 62 exchange students, among whom 41 students have completed their studies in Germany, 38 have obtained dual degrees, 27 have been or are perusing further study in Germany. Of those who choose to return to China, almost all of them work in big companies such as China Audi, Beijing Benz, Shanghai Volkswagen, Nanjing Haila and Dongfeng Gothac.
During the visit to the Centria University of Applied Sciences in Finland, the delegation met with President Kari Ristimäki, Ms. Hannele Teir, Vice President, Ms. Jennie Elfving, Vice President and other relevant leaders. The two parties formally signed a cooperation agreement for double degree (bachelor level) program on business management.
It is reported that Vice President Hannele Teir has led the team to visit HUAT twice. After nearly one-year discussion, the program was officially launched after this visit, opening up a new channel for students in the five majors of College of Economics and Management to study abroad: financial management, international trade, information management and information systems, information resource management and marketing.
The delegation's visit to universities in Germany and Finland has consolidated cooperation and exchanges, and officially launched a new cooperation program, which will further promote the internationalization of HUAT.
